About Us
The Texas Route 66 Visitor Center offers so much more than T-shirts and keychains. We have local art, information, maps, unique and original Route 66 memorabilia. The "Two for the Road" documentary that highlights the Texas Route 66 experience shows daily, and we will be adding more shows and features that we will be announcing soon.
Our Store / History
Our Location is the historic Myers Fried Chicken Restaurant at 1900 SW 6th Ave. One of Amarillo's most historic and iconic restaurants for over 20 years from 1948-1970. In the heyday of Route 66, Myers was open 24 /7, 365 days a year to serve the travelers on this famous roadway. We are proud of our local history and all of the history along Route 66.
"Great place to stop! Lots of artist photos, souvenirs along with magnets maps and T-shirt’s. Owners have done an excellent job and are working hard to preserve the history of what once was. It’s worth a stop just to talk to the owners. They are a treasure trove of information about Route 66 and sites along the way" Review by LR TRAVEL.
While you are visiting the Cadillac Ranch, touring our historic 6th street district, or eating a steak at the Big Texan, don't forget to swing by the visitor center to round off your Amarillo Rt. 66 experience.
Come in and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and see all the unique and beautiful things that Amarillo has to offer.
